Welcome to Common Meal! For over 30 years, students have gathered weekly at our Wesley Foundation to share Communion and a delicious meal. This is a time to share in a festive celebration of our faith. Breaking bread together reminds us of how the early church gathered for a meal and remembered the words of Jesus, Do This In Remembrance of Me. According to Luke, when our risen Lord was at the table with his disciples, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Their eyes were opened and they recognized the Risen Christ. As we break bread together, we pray that our eyes will be opened to God's love and the love we share in our Christian community here at Wesley. All are invited to share in our Common Meal. Our communion is open to everyone.
Another part of our Common Meal is our very special cook, Mrs. Simmons! Mrs. Simmons has been preparing delicious meals since Common Meal began. And on most Thursdays, she prepares her special homemade rolls! They are great! And if you talk to our Wesley Alumni, they will tell you that no one makes better rolls than Mrs. Simmons. At our reunion this summer, we estimated that Mrs. Simmons has made over 150,000 rolls!
